This weekend is Thanksgiving. For most, it’s a time to gather with family and friends and enjoy each other’s company, watch some football games and – of course – savour a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Thanksgiving has been celebrated for centuries by North American Aboriginals and Europeans – even before they settled in North America – with its traditional roots being firmly planted with the autumn harvest.
This year, as you prepare for Thanksgiving, consider rewarding our Vancouver Island producers by purchasing local products. It’s a great way to make sure you’re getting fresh and healthy food while helping out Island agricultural producers and our economy at the same time.
No matter how you celebrate or what you feast on, I wish you, your family and your friends a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
